1. You really can't beat Italian coffee -- when we asked for 'two lattes' in one cafe in Rome, the stunning waiter broke out in grins -- "just two glasses of milk? That's not a usual order".
2. Put a bit more parmesan cheese on your lasagne, why don't ya?

Mmmmmmmmmm...... That cup of Roman coffee brings back memories! I was in Italy in December 1989 & January 1990, including a couple of weeks in Rome in January. I have to say that I was not impressed with the sunny Mediterranean climate - what I remember mostly is lots of chilly dampness. I usually take my coffee black, but somehow in Italy in January cappucino always tasted really good. That and those grilled sandwiches in the bars! (I should explain that in Italy one goes to a bar to get a coffee, to a tobacco shop to buy stamps.) The sandwiches I favoured were various combinations of cheese, eggs, spinach and vegetables. I spent a month in Italy and pretty much lived on cappucino and grilled sandwiches - usually eaten standing up, as it cost extra to sit down. Except once in Florence on the day when I had my daypack stolen and the world seemed generally horrible and my face probably showed it, a bar-owner ushered me to a sit and indicated that he would let me sit down for free.
